Good free video editing software?

I need video editing software that can take still images, bits of video and music and I can put them together to make a video. It must be user-friendly and it would be much preferable if it can slowly zoom in on videos as it plays. It must be either freeware or shareware with the unregistered having all the features I mentioned. If it's a trial period, I only need it for a week.
