Is stalking hereditary?

I was stalked a few years ago by a guy that I let loose. It was pretty bad. I just found out recently that my boss is his mother. I was talking to her the other day, and she told me a story about how his dad, when they split up, he stalked her as well. She said that Sean had always went home after he got done stalking me, and would sit down and tell her about it. She was creeped out and all, but she told me not to worry about it, he 'got it from his father'. Does that kind of behavior get ped down? I know it wasn't learned, because he was still a baby when she sent his dad packing.
