Would it be improper to name a Jewish child Anthony or Jack?

The Polish/Hungarian Jewish populations were largely very religious. Both the names you mention are way out there for members of those communities. In both of those communities, Hebrew or Yiddish names were the norm. English names would have been completely foreign to them.
